The duties that a husband has toward his wife is not only a picture of atonement as Paul instructs husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her…but also a picture of sanctification as Paul provides the goal of the husband’s sacrifice and that is to sanctify his wife that he might present her to the Lord.
